Introduction
Giving disadvanted kids school bags that are manufactured from our recycled vinyl billboards
Once an advertising campaign is complete and should any of our Clients not be re using their PVC prints for any future campaigns then we donate those prints FREE of charge to a very worthy cause – DeskBags for disadvantaged school kids.
By choosing us as your advertising partner you are effectively supporting this initiave as well and this could also become a part of your Companies Social Responsibility Programme.
Background Information
Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga revealed in a written reply to a parliamentary question that schools across South Africa need three million desks and four million chairs. With these alarming statistics in mind, Madelain Roscher, the MD of PR Worx, established DeskBags in 2012.
As many of these children do not have formal classrooms, they are forced to either kneel on the ground, or work on make-shift desks during their school day.
Why DeskBags are the solution
DeskBags are not only functional eco-friendly school bags but also provide a portable desk solution. While the bag allows the child to carry his or her books and stationary, the flap is reinforced with durable ABB plastic, that when folded open, allows for instant desk support too.
Roscher’s goal with DeskBags is to help alleviate the need for school desks in South Africa as she believes that education is the vaccine to poverty and crime.
Job creation
Deskbags are exclusively manufactured in-house by PR Worx who only employ previously disadvantaged or disabled South Africans for this task. They are made from used outdoor PVC billboard materials, which make the product waterproof and durable. In addition, by recycling the billboard materials this “going green” initiative is helping to keep toxic PVC materials out of landfill sites, ensuring environmental sustainability.
Who funds this initiative?
Through corporate sponsorships to cover the production costs of the product, DeskBags are donated to needy schools free of charge.
